Should Voting Be Mandatory?
Tomorrow, you’re going to vote.
Right?
In some countries, voting is required. Should it be required here in the U.S.?
CNN asked that question:
Only 40% voted in the last midterm election? That’s pitiful.
As a way to increase voter turnout, should voting be mandatory? Along with jury duty, should it be a required part of citizenship?
Or is not voting a way of making one’s voice heard? Would mandatory voting be an infringement on freedom and expression?

Are we to assume that the 40% who voted is a small percentage of the registered voters and not a percentage of the total voting age population which is very different. If the number is 40% of registered voters then the U.S. government is run by minority opinion and not the will of the people.
The CNN piece said 40% of “eligible voters.”
